They buried a billion-dollar detector under Antarctic ice to catch ghost particles from another galaxy. Meanwhile, on my street, the water main’s been leaking since March and half the streetlights are dead. Neutrinos cross the entire planet without stopping. So does our city council, apparently. We can’t even see stars through the smog here. Two windows on the universe — one of them still boarded up.
