Nine years to make an arrest. Now months to seat twelve strangers and their backups. The charge landed in 2021 — nine years of nothing, then a genealogy site did what the system couldn’t. Jury selection isn’t the delay. It’s the paperwork stapled to the delay. Call it due process. It looks a lot like inertia with a docket number.
