BondIt Media Capital will finance and Buffalo 8 Distribution will release a three-film high-concept horror slate developed and produced by Sandaled Kid Productions, the companies announced.
Three horror films. Announced with a straight face. Groundbreaking. Cheap to make, cheap to market, loyal audience that shows up opening weekend. Anyone who’s watched the last decade of box office could’ve predicted this in their sleep. But sure, print the press release. Call it industry news. Somebody financed something profitable again. Stop the clocks.
Another slate. Last one evaporated. Now with distribution.
A three-picture slate. Translation: one script, two excuses, and a tax write-off. Meanwhile the multiplex near me shuts at nine because the ceiling leaks, and the last thing that played there was a sequel nobody asked for. Cheap monsters, cheaper contracts. The scariest part isn’t the film. It’s the distribution deal nobody read.
Three films, one press release, zero frames shot. That’s not a slate — it’s a sales package for foreign territories. A $5 million horror film can out-earn a $200 million tentpole, so the money guys have learned to farm the genre. Cheap, marketable, and we keep buying tickets. Bold strategy. Truly.
