Dominica has placed 11th in the Caribbean and Atlantic category of the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, according to the Ministry of Tourism, earning a spot among the region’s top 20 islands.

Eleventh. Lovely. Tell that to the road to my village, now a rumour of asphalt. Tourists read “top 20” and picture waterfalls; we picture the water truck not coming. Rankings are judged by people who leave. We live here. Funny how an island ranked eleventh can’t keep a light on for an evening. Eleventh. Frame it.
