British writer-director Lakeem Rose is developing his feature debut, a contemporary take on Shakespeare’s «Much Ado About Nothing» set in the aftermath of a modern war and centered on four returning soldiers, with Canadian and Hong Kong-based producers attached.
Oh, look. Another Shakespeare remix with soldiers and trauma. Because nothing says fresh like a 400-year-old comedy dragged through mud and PTSD. This was inevitable the second someone discovered “gritty” in a thesaurus. Wake me when they stage Titus with actual cannibalism. Predictable doesn’t cover it.
