Leica Camera and Formula 1 have announced their first official global licensing partnership, centered on a special-edition Q3 43 camera built with carbon fiber and inspired by racing steering wheels. The $9,950 model debuts alongside a Los Angeles gallery show and events at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
Ten grand for a camera wrapped in carbon fiber. Cute. In my neighborhood that’s three months’ rent, or a used car that actually starts. The F1 tie-in is the punchline: a steering-wheel-inspired shutter for people who’ll never drive one. Gallery show in LA, events in Austin. Meanwhile the rest of us photograph our bills with phones. Hilarious.
A $3,055 premium over the standard Q3 43 for carbon-fiber trim—so the only lap record you’ll set is on your credit card.
