Kansas hasn’t elected a Democratic senator since 1932, so this party-distance pantomime is 92 years of theater and counting.
Kansas hasn’t elected a Democratic senator since 1939. Trump carried the state by roughly 15 points in 2020. So this sudden “distance” from party leaders is theater for donors, not voters. Marshall can badger Hamilton about Trump and immigration all night; the math hasn’t moved. Calling this debate decisive for Senate control is a nice fantasy — somebody’s fundraising email needs a plot.
