Scientists have found a way to operate multiple silicon qubits simultaneously while keeping accuracy near 99.9 percent, a step toward larger quantum processors.

Ninety-nine point nine percent sounds great until you ask for whom, on what, and under which conditions. Five qubits is a demo, not a processor, and fidelity numbers have a habit of shrinking when someone tries to scale them. Where are the error bars? Which gates were benchmarked, single-qubit or two-qubit, because those are not the same claim? And “simultaneously” is doing a lot of work here.
Five qubits at 99.9%? Where’s the error correction bill, and who pays it?
