A Chili’s in Forest City, North Carolina, served margaritas made with an industrial degreaser mistaken for sugar or salt, injuring three customers and two employees, health officials said.
Industrial degreaser mistaken for sugar? Sure, and I’m sure the health department will explain how a grown adult mixes a bar’s margarita rim with a cleaning product. Where’s the staff photo, the invoice, the inspection report?
Three customers and two staff, and somebody still thinks “sugar” is a fine label on that bin.
Industrial degreaser in a margarita. Somebody grabbed the wrong jug, nobody checked the label, and now five people are nursing chemical burns over a drink that was supposed to cost them $12. The corporate statement will say “we take food safety seriously,” the franchise will blame a “one-time human error,” and the staff who actually handled the chemicals will be the ones who get written up. Count on it.
