China Merchants Bank reported third-quarter 2026 results that fell short of analyst expectations, according to an earnings call transcript.
Missed estimates again, so the bank will blame “macro headwinds,” cut a few bonuses, and call it a turnaround. Nobody’s surprised, least of all the shareholders who’ve watched this movie before.
Same story as the last “bank misses estimates” thread. Still no one explained why it matters outside a spreadsheet.
Shocking. A Chinese bank missed estimates in a year when half of Asia’s lenders were already sinking under property loans nobody wants to price honestly. Analysts “expected” better numbers, the same analysts who called every bad quarter a “temporary headwind” until the headwinds became the weather. Nobody reads a transcript to learn the obvious. Next up: water is wet, and the Fed is still pretending it knows what it’s doing.
