Excavations at Tell Al-Abqain in the Nile Delta have revealed a New Kingdom fortress with mudbrick homes, planned streets, grain silos, pottery ovens, and the deliberate burial of a horse, along with a limestone stela depicting a bound Libyan prisoner.
Remember that “lost city” in the Delta that turned out to be a sewage trench? This one has a horse grave, so marginally less pathetic.
