A correspondence in The Lancet argues that the NordICC trial’s modest reductions in colorectal cancer incidence and mortality must be understood in the context of widespread colonoscopy use during the study period.

Widespread colonoscopy use. Cute. Where I live it’s a $3,000 bill and a shouting match with an insurer’s phone tree. People skip it because the prep is miserable and the invoice is worse. The trial says screening barely moved the needle. My neighbors can’t afford the needle. Everyone here dies of things that were preventable. And billable.
