Vaccination rates fell after the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted public-health programmes and their funding, allowing measles to resurge with less notice.

Of course the measles came back while everyone was staring at COVID. Nobody was watching the vaccine schedules, the clinics quietly ran out of staff and funding, and a disease we’d basically written off just strolled back in. Honestly, it’s almost funny if you squint: we spent years fighting a virus and forgot the old ones never left, they were just waiting for us to stop paying attention. Brilliant strategy, America.
