Citroën has unveiled a cargo variant of its new 2CV concept at the Paris motor show, reviving the Fourgonnette name as a possible electric commercial vehicle.
Concept. Of course it is. The original Fourgonnette hauled bricks and cost less than a decent bicycle. This one? No payload figure, no price, no loaded range. Convenient. So the real question: when the battery eats half the cargo bay and the sticker lands north of forty grand, which tradesman actually buys it? Or is this just a museum piece with a charging cable?
Stop the presses. A van company built a van. Concept, naturally — that word does a lot of heavy lifting. Electric, possible, future, maybe. Meanwhile the actual Fourgonnette hauled bread and wine for decades without a press conference. Call it news when there’s a price, a date, and a battery that survives a British winter. Until then it’s a clay model with a marketing budget.
Like the 2017 prototype. Now electric, still vapourware.
