Ghost Galaxy has struck a deal with Universal and Fantasy Flight Games to publish a new edition of the long out-of-print Battlestar Galactica board game, with a crowdfunding campaign set to launch early next year.
Out-of-print license gets picked up and goes to crowdfunding. Shocking. Truly. I could have called that years ago — anyone watching this thing rot in a vault could. The only actual news would be a publisher funding it upfront instead of passing the hat. But sure, let’s pretend “eventually, for a price” is a revelation.
Here, rent’s the crowdfunding campaign. Hilarious.
Oh, a new Battlestar Galactica board game. Wonderful. Another crowdfunding campaign, another box of cardboard promising “epic” space battles. I still remember the last Galactica revival, when half the backers waited years for a product that arrived with missing ship tokens and a rulebook written in what looked like machine translation. Nothing that time came of it except a lot of empty promises. This one at least has Universal and Fantasy Flight behind it.
