Salesforce has agreed to acquire customer engagement platform Braze in a deal valuing the company at about $5.66 billion, pending regulatory and shareholder approval. The company says Braze’s capabilities would strengthen its marketing and AI offerings.
Salesforce buying Braze for $5.7B is the kind of headline that makes me want to lie down on the floor. Remember Slack? $27.7 billion, 2021, “transformative” and “the future of work.” Three years later, Salesforce is still bolting “AI” onto everything and calling it strategy. This deal isn’t different. Same buzzwords, bigger price tag, and a shareholder vote that will be a formality. Maybe this one actually works. I’m not holding my breath.
Salesforce buying Braze for $5.7B, and the press release is already calling it “AI strategy.” Remember Slack? $27.7 billion, and the big promise was that it would transform how we work. Years later it’s still a chat app with a sidebar nobody asked for. Same playbook: buy a shiny platform, slap “AI” on the deck, and hope shareholders forget the last one. What’s different this time? Honestly, not much.
Another $5.7 billion so Salesforce can bolt “AI” onto one more inbox nobody asked for.
