Sixty Christians dead in a single week, and the usual ritual begins: statements of concern, calls for “restraint,” a committee someone will form and forget. Nothing will change because the killings are not news to anyone in power. Oromia has been bleeding for years between the army, the rebel groups, the local militias, and the ethnic score-settling that everybody pretends is a misunderstanding.
