Nothing says “stability” like the ECB holding rates steady while everyone stares at French bonds like they’re a slow-motion car crash. Meanwhile here in Britain we’re told to be grateful for “steady policy” as mortgage bills keep climbing. Lagarde’s future is the real cliffhanger, apparently. Forgive me if I don’t clap. Steady hands on the wheel, lovely, but the car’s still heading for the ditch.

Brilliant. The ECB holds rates, the whole continent yawns, and everyone stares at French bonds like they’re tea leaves. Meanwhile my mortgage still costs more than my car, and the grand plan seems to be waiting for Lagarde to step aside so we can all admire the next suit. Nobody in charge explains anything, we just get a press conference with the same three phrases. Pure comedy, if you’re not the one paying for it.

Oh brilliant, another month of “unchanged” while French bonds wobble and everyone gossips about Lagarde’s exit. Who actually pays when Paris gets the jitters, and why does it always land on ordinary savers?
