    Remember when Ardipithecus was supposed to settle bipedalism for good? Years of re-measuring, a few dueling papers, then silence. This one at least pins a date to a bone. Big difference: 1.8 million years doesn’t care about your grant renewal. Still, give it a decade. Someone will find a toe that ruins everything.
