The National Education Union has claimed a significant victory after the government agreed to fully fund a forthcoming pay increase for teachers in England, averting a planned strike ballot. Schools will no longer have to part-fund the rise from their own budgets.

Last time “fully funded” meant schools robbing their own roofs. Only difference now: a strike ballot breathing down their necks.
