An apology. Again. How many is that now — four, five? The board will call it a blip, the manager will keep his job, the travelling faithful will fund another 4-1 somewhere grim in February. Nothing gets fixed. Nobody gets sacked. That’s the ending: comfortable, lucrative mediocrity, and a club statement quoting “lessons learned”.
I’ve watched a manager grovel after a loss, forgotten by Monday. This one has a four-goal humiliation attached, so it might actually stick.
