An El Al Israel Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna carrying 51 passengers and six crew members made an emergency landing in Bulgaria after a crew member reported a bomb threat on board.

Last year a “bomb threat” grounded a flight in Athens for six hours. Turned out to be a misdialed phone number and a nervous passenger. Cost: a few hundred euros in sandwiches. This one’s different. The threat came from the crew. On board. Not some anonymous caller from a payphone. So either a hoax inside the cabin or something nobody wants to name. Either way, 51 people got a free detour to Bulgaria.
