Marvel Studios aired a crossover promo featuring current MLB players during Game 1 of the 2026 World Series on Fox, using the film’s live-event marketing approach.
Shocking news: a studio paid for a commercial during the World Series and stuffed it with ballplayers so people would notice a superhero movie. Who could have seen that coming? Nobody in marketing, apparently, because this is exactly what every studio has done for a decade. Crossover ads during big live broadcasts are the playbook, not a plot twist. Calling it a headline is generous. It’s an ad about an ad.
Marvel buying airtime during the World Series with ballplayers hawking Doomsday, and nobody asked what the actual game was supposed to be about. Fox sold the ninth inning to a cape movie. Great.
